Are you passionate about human neuroscience and interested in learning more about fMRI research? The Social Brain Lab at the Netherlands Institute for Neuroscience is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic intern to join our team and contribute to our cutting-edge research project by assisting with fMRI data collection!

About Us: We are a dynamic research group led by Dr. Valeria Gazzola and Dr. Christian Keysers, exploring the neural basis of the social brain. One of our research projects focuses on the neuro-computational mechanisms of action-outcome learning under moral conflict. Building upon the groundbreaking findings of Fornari et al. (2023), our research aims to investigate the regulatory mechanisms involved in learning under morally conflicting situations, with a specific focus on how regulation influences outcome processing from a neurocomputational perspective.

Internship Description: As an intern in our lab, you will have the opportunity to contribute to ongoing research by assisting with fMRI data collection. We have designed an extended version of our previous paradigm, and now seek dedicated interns to assist in collecting fMRI data. Your role will primarily involve working closely with our experienced researchers to ensure smooth data acquisition during the summer period (June-September). Please note that due to the short duration of the internship, there won’t be enough time to produce a full thesis.

Requirements:
–       Enthusiasm for neuroscience research, particularly in the field of action-outcome learning under moral conflict
–       Familiarity with fMRI data collection procedures is highly desirable, but not mandatory
–       Ability to work well in a collaborative team environment
–       Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
–       Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
–       Proficiency in English (both written and spoken)

Benefits:
–       Gain hands-on experience in fMRI data collection techniques
–       Obtain fMRI safety certificate, and perhaps possibility to become fMRI operator
–       Work alongside leading researchers in the field of social neuroscience
–       Expand your knowledge of neurocomputational mechanisms and decision-making processes
–       Contribute to cutting-edge research in an exciting and dynamic environment

Application Process: To apply for this internship, please submit the following documents:
–       Your up-to-date CV, including details of any relevant coursework or research experience
–       A brief cover letter expressing your interest in the internship and why you believe you would be a suitable candidate

Please email your application to j.campdepadros@nin.knaw.nl with the subject line “Internship Application – [Your Name].” Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, so early submission is encouraged.

We look forward to welcoming a motivated intern to our team and working together to uncover the fascinating complexities of the social brain! Join us for an enriching summer experience at the Netherlands Institute for Neuroscience.

Best regards,

Judit Campdepadrós Barrios,
