Write a publishable review about breathing exercises (Scriptie/Thesis/Internship/Writing Assignment opportunity)
Website Military Brain and Behavior Centre
Lately, there is increased interest in simple breathing exercises to increase mental and physical health. If these prove effective, this would provide the opportunity for scalable, cost-effective interventions, particularly for stress-related complaints. You will perform an umbrella review (a systematic review of meta-analyses and systematic reviews) to shed more light on this issue, with the aim of contributing to a publishable scientific article. The research will be conducted at the Expertisecentrum MGGZ (https://www.expertisecentrummggz.nl/) of the Dutch Military and the University Medical Center Utrecht, located at the Central Military Hospital (next to the University Medical Center Utrecht), under the supervision of dr. B. Bruinsma and dr. R. van Lutterveld. Requirements: enrolled in a master’s program in (cognitive) neuroscience, neuropsychology or similar, and adequate mastery of written English. The project will be conducted one day a week at the Expertisecentrum MGGZ and the remaining days of the week remotely. Length of the project will be determined in consultation with the student and start date is between 17 August and 1 November 2026. Please contact dr. Bruinsma (B.Bruinsma@umcutrecht.nl) or dr. Van Lutterveld (R.vanlutterveld@umcutrecht.nl) for more information.
